Pokemon TCG Pocket Space–Time Smackdown Launches January 29th!

Hold on to that gold and stockpile that stamina as Pokémon TCG Pocket readies its latest booster expansion, Space-Time Smackdown for launch on January 29th, 2025. The full details have yet to be revealed, but from the preview video released on the Pokémon TCG Pocket YouTube Channel, we can see a few cards that will be included in the upcoming set.

Space–Time Smackdown Shifts to Sinnoh

Dialga EX and Palkia EX headline the next set of legendary Pokémon headed to decks near you. We also see an appearance from the Chimchar, Turtwig, and Piplup, the lunar Pokémon Cresselia, and a fan-favorite trainer, Cynthia.

Dialga EX

Dialga EX lends pretty heavy support to Steel, with a big boost to Melmetal users. Its move Metallic Turbo does 30 damages and pulls 2 Steel energy from your energy zone and attaches it to one of your benched Pokémon. This boost lets you quickly ready your Melmetal for maximum destruction.

For 2 Steel and 2 Colorless, Dialga EX can use Heavy Impact for 100 damage, which is not a ton given the current state of EX Pokémon which will relegate Dialga to the support squad.

Palkia EX

On the flip side, we have Palkia EX which has been designated Water Type which is interesting given the recent Gyrados EX boost. It can use a simple Slash for 1 Water dealing a paltry 30 damage. For a bigger splash, 3 Water and a Colorless lets you use Dimensional Storm. Dimensional Storm deals 150 damage to the active Pokémon and 20 damage to each of your opponent’s benched Pokémon. The big drawback however is the subsequent loss of 3 water energy from Palkia.

This card should see play as a sweeper when combined with Misty and the Vaporeon from Mythical Island. The loss of energy, however, makes it difficult to dethrone the likes of Articuno EX who still owns a decent portion of the meta.

Cynthia and Garchomp Enter the Arena

Pokemon Trainer Cynthia

The top-tier Garchomp line will appear in Space-Time Smackdown with heavy support from Cynthia. This trainer adds 50 damage to the attack of your Garchomp or Togekiss for a finishing blow.

Pachirisu EX

Pachirisu EX adds more electric support to those Pikachu EX decks (as if they needed it) with Sparking Gadget. For 2 Electric, it deals 40 damage plus another 40 if it has a Pokémon Tool attached, which is a bit of news hidden in a single card shown for 1 second. Pokémon Tools are a welcome addition to the game that should infuse a bit more complexity to decks across the board.

We also get a peek at another Eeveelution in Leafeon and popular Dark bird Honchkrow, which also means we will see Murkrow. The 110 HP Cresselia seems like a throwaway, with a single move, Moonlight Gain, where for 2 Psychic you deal 50 damage and heal yourself for 20. Oh, and the trailer ends with a release date on trading, January 28th, 2025.

With the release in just under a week, expect more information to drop soon as we eagerly await to spend all of our resources ripping those packs and hoping for those rainbows. Let us know what you think about the teaser below and what you hope is included in the upcoming set!
