Space-Time Smackdown Has Landed: New Cards, Effects, and much more

The big day is finally here and Pokemon TCG Pocket players are dropping all of their gold and pack stamina into Space-Time Smackdown, the latest set in one of the most popular mobile games on the market.

So far I am about 40 packs in and have unpacked 88 new cards. But unlike Mythical Island, Space-Time Smackdown is a large set comprising 155 different Pokemon, Items, and Supporters plus its own set of alternate art and Illustrator cards.

However, if you are like me, you scour the web for set lists to get the full view and the itch for those chase cards to boost your favorite decks.

New Card Types

In with the old but also in with the new. Pokemon TCG Pocket Space-Time Smackdown has introduced a new card type to the pool giving your decks a bit more versatility while adding an extra layer of support to the meta.

Pokemon Tools are your equipment. Much like equipment in Magic the Gathering they add effects to your creatures giving them a boost in battle. So far, we only have 3 tools, all of which are great boosts to many pokemon already out there int he wild.

Giant Cape: Adds 20 HP to the Pokemon wearing it. This is a solid boost for those EX Pokemon that you want to beef up or toss on a Pokemon to help it withstand those heavy EX attacks. It's also a useful tool to mitigate any extra weakness damage.

Rocky Helmet: Did you hate Druddigon before? Well now with Rocky Helmet you take 40 damage when stacked with his Rough Skin ability. This will bring those close matches even closer with more chances for a double knockout.

Lum Berry: Has Frosmoth or Hypno put you to sleep? How about that Wheezing poison gas? With Lum Berry it's not a problem. Well, it's not a problem once. If attached your Active will consume it to clear whatever status effect that ails it.

New Effects

Joining Sleep, Poison and Paralysis are a couple of new status effects you now have to worry about. These status effects have been a staple in physical Pokemon TCG since its inception and are creeping their way into your phone.

Confusion: Confusion can stop your attacks from happening. When a Pokemon who is confused attacks you flip a coin. If tails, your attack does nothing. Which really sucks.

Burn: Burned Pokemon take 20 damage during each checkup. The difference between Burn and an effect like poison however is that your Pokemon can recover from burn at a check if you flip a heads. Burn will also stack with other status conditions making it that much more deadly.

Space-Time Smackdown - More POkemon More fun

Pokemon TCG Pocket Space Time Smackdown ushers in change to a game some had started to step away from. With new moves, abilities, tools, and conditions every trainer now has an excuse to step in and retool old decks while building new ones. Who knows, you may be the next one to find that crazy deck combo that becomes all the rage.
